U.S. ARMY

The U.S. Army is made up of the most dedicated, most respected soldiers in the world. These soldiers protect America's Freedoms while serving at home and abroad, and they are always prepared to defend the nation in times of need.

U.S. MARINES

We are soldiers of the sea, providing forces and detachments to naval ships and shore operations. We are global leaders, developing expeditionary doctrine and innovations that set the example, and leading other countries' forces and agencies in the multinational military operations. These unique capabilities make us "First to Fight", and our nations first line of defense.

U.S. NAVY

America's Navy is a force as relevant today as it's been historically significan for the last 238 years. The times may change, the threats may become more obscure, the complex nature of 21st century life may make the demand for such presence less obvious. However, now more than ever, the Navy is something to be aware of Something to be thankful for. Something to be proud of.

U.S. AIR FORCE

Air Force has a vision of Global Vigilance, Reach and Power. That vision orbits around three core competencies: developing airmen, technology to war fighting and integrating operations. These core competencies make our six distinctive capabilities possible.

NATIONAL GUARD

Our versatility enables us to respond to domestic emergencies, overseas combat missions, counter-drug efforts, reconstruction missions and more.

U.S. COAST GUARD

We protect the personal safety and security of our people; the marine transportation system and infrastructure; our natural and economic resources; and the territorial integrity of our nation-from both internal and external threats, natural and man-made.

A Message from Commander Brian Haer

Comrades, Auxiliary Members, and Friends of Post 2480,

As the warm days of summer begin to fade and the cooler breeze of autumn settles over Port Clinton, we naturally reflect on the season behind us and prepare for the road ahead. Summer at Post 2480 was filled with incredible camaraderie, hard work, and steadfast dedication to our mission. I want to thank every member, volunteer, and supporter who made our summer events and operations such a success.

As we move into the fall, our focus turns toward several significant military observances and key dates between now and December 1st:

  • U.S. Navy Birthday (October 13): Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Navy. Fair winds and following seas to all our sailors past and present.
  • Veterans Day (November 11): The centerpiece of our autumn calendar. On this day, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder to honor all who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces. We'll share details on Post 2480’s Veterans Day ceremonies, local parades, and community events shortly. We encourage everyone to participate and stand proud.
  • U.S. Marine Corps Birthday (November 10): Semper Fi to all our Marines celebrating 251 years of honor, courage, and commitment.

Get Involved & Stay Connected: Our mission of serving veterans, their families, and the Port Clinton community never takes a day off. Whether you attend our monthly Post and Auxiliary meetings, volunteer for our upcoming fall outreach events, or simply drop by the Canteen to share a story with fellow comrades, your presence matters.

If you have been thinking about renewing your membership, joining our Post, or getting involved with the VFW Auxiliary or Dads Club, now is the perfect time.

Thank you all for your continued service, dedication, and support of Post 2480. Let’s finish this year strong, together.

In Comradeship and Service,

Brian Haer

Commander, VFW Post 2480
